Avalon Hotel - Göteborg, Sweden

Design exhibitions can be a bit frustrating, especially when the works on show—say, an Eames lounge chair just pleading to be sat on—are behind glass. But now that the fashion-, design-, and decorative arts–focused Röhsska Museum has paired up with Sweden's Avalon Hotel, you can look, touch, and swivel with verve.

In conjunction with the museum's Past-Present-Future exhibition (through September 30), design covetables from the collection have been replicated in the hotel's public areas and key guest rooms. Our faves include a tangerine Verner Panton Cone chair, a classic of late 1950s Scandinavian modernism; the full-size Horse lamp and Pig tray tables, quirks of design stars Moooi; and a DVD of Swedish FRONT design group's Blow Away Vase, showing in the elevators. Free workshops and design tours are offered for the truly obsessed. How novel: design that's actually within reach—at least for a night

The hotel with its 101 rooms and 202 beds form the basis of our offering. It is here that much of what creates the Avalon experience is to be found. The architecture and the location create an impression to a high degree. We are a feng-shui certified hotel where furnishing, lighting, fragrance and sounds play a large role. We see it as a matter of course that good food and drink are part of good hotel service. Avalon Hotel offer a full service in the hotels own garage.

Eccleston Square: a new ultra-modern hideaway in the heart of London

Eccleston Square Hotel will be opening in July 2011.

When guests arrive at Eccleston Square Hotel, an historic townhouse on an award- winning garden square in Pimlico, Central London, they might think they’re about to step into an old-fashioned city residence. But instead they will be entering a timeless modern lobby, which dazzles with a black, crystal chandelier and herring bone pattern floor tiles.

After a £6.5m renovation, this Georgian town house has emerged as an ultra-high-tech urban cocoon, where guests are comforted and soothed by luxurious products and swathes of futuristic gadgets. In all 39 rooms there are blue tooth iPod connections, VoIP phones and programmable ‘wake up and sleep’ experience that takes control of the curtains, heating and lighting. The 46-inch 3D TVs with 3D Blu-Ray players and hand-made, electronically adjustable Hästens beds are standard in all rooms.

Good sleep and wellbeing are central to the design concept devised by Olivia Byrne, who recently completed a four-and-a-half-year course at the esteemed Ecole Hotelière de Lausanne in Switzerland. “The ethos of the Eccleston Square Hotel is quite simple,” she said. “We want our clients to leave the hotel feeling better than they did when they arrived.”

Florence Hotel Villa San Michele: A Blissful Retreat

There are few places in Europe that are as beautiful as Florence in the springtime. Villa San Michele adds to this beauty in ways that are difficult to describe without seeing, smelling, and living it yourself (Although, I will give it my best shot).

Located in Fiesole (10-15 minute cab ride from the Florence train station), Villa San Michele is clearly not your average hotel. From the long, windy uphill driveway, to the entry gardens, to the lobby, you feel as if you've just stepped into a museum and part of a piece of history. To be frank, you have. Just ask any of the helpful staff the history of this beautiful, renovated monastery.

In walking to our room, we passed by the outside dining hall, which overlooks all of Florence. While this is truly a remarkable view that is hard to top, it is in fact surpassed by the gardens that lie just a few short steps away. It was quite possibly the most serene, blissful place I have ever been in my life. The historical statues, lemon trees, ivy lined walls, and beautiful red flowers made this garden truly one of a kind.

The room itself was complete with a bed fit for a king, a shower area that literally could fit an elephant, his and her sinks, and a private outdoor patio. The Loggia Restaurant (Villa San Michele's house restaurant) has some of the best food to be experienced in Florence, and with a breathtaking view to match, truly can't be beat.

While experiencing the city is a "must-do" for those who haven't been, Villa San Michele makes it an unusually difficult decision to tear yourself away from the beauty of its grounds, the warmth of the staff, and the richness of the history you have now become a part of. For those who have been to Florence and are looking for something more, look no further than Villa San Michele. It is an unforgettable experience you will surely not forget.

Legendary Hotel is Celebrity Address for Cannes Film Festival & Monaco Grand Prix

For a century, the iconic Grand-Hotel du Cap-Ferrat on the French Cote D'Azur has been a legendary retreat for tycoons, aristocrats, film stars, politicians, artists and writers.

Now the newly-restored grand palace is again a magnet for elite international guests; convenient for attending such star-studded international events as the Monaco Grand Prix and Cannes Film Festival yet discreetly secluded in its own manicured Mediterranean estate.

Celebrated for world-class cuisine and unique luxury and elegance, Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat is just a 25-minute drive from Monaco, 50 minutes from Cannes and 30-minutes from Nice International Airport for frequent international flight connections.

Reopening is therefore especially timely this springtime as the South of France becomes a celebrity Mecca hosting Europe's premier social highlights of the year.

Monaco hosts the "jewel of the Formula One crown" attracting the world's rich and famous and most renowned super yachts from May 13-16.

At the same time, the 63rd annual Cannes Film Festival is the epicentre of the world’s film industry from May 12-23, as movie stars and film producers descend to launch and distribute the latest movies.

Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat is not surprisingly a premier address for those attending these world-class events.

Over the past one hundred years illustrious guests have included the novelist Somerset Maugham, Charlie Chaplin, Winston Churchill, Aristotle Onassis, Picasso, David Niven, Paul McCartney and Frank Sinatra.

Today, that tradition continues at Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat with re-opening following expansion styled by internationally acclaimed designer Pierre-Yves Rochon.

Along with a new wing is a world class destination spa and new La Véranda restaurant complementing redesign of famed Michelin star Restaurant Le Cap, renowned for one of the world’s most spectacular wine collections, now opening onto a terrace with breathtaking views over the Mediterranean.

Deluxe suites include the Pine View, with a delightful terrace overlooking a pine grove and the hotel gardens, suites with private swimming pools, and the truly magnificent, one of a kind Roof Top Suite sumptuously decorated by architect Alberto Pinto, with panoramic views over the Mediterranean from its grandiose terrace.

The penthouse Cocteau Suite has an enormous 110m² terrace with stunning views over the Mediterranean from Nice to Monaco.

Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat is a member of The Leading Small Hotels of the World.
